Jobs had ingeniously set Pixar’s initial public offering day for November 29, a week after the opening of Toy Story. Technically, under SEC rules, Pixar was in a “quiet period” during which it could do nothing publicly to promote its offering. With the sudden omnipresence of Toy Story, Jobs wouldn’t need to.
